If left oily, it preserves the paint underneath, but when chipped, water migrates underneath and causes nasty cancer. I removed all (with tub off) and replaced with roll-on bed liner (Herculiner).

I got mine done through a connection, dealer mark up is high and you might be better off getting it done yourself through another business. Where in BC are you?
